My dying sister.

golem on December 20, 2009, 6:16 pm

She had heart problems since birth, multiple open-heart surgeries, even a cool heart pump installed

golem on December 20, 2009, 9:00 pm

Early this year, she went into the hospital for a chance at a donor heart.

golem on December 20, 2009, 9:01 pm

She got some manner of infection, which she couldn't shake. She kept getting sicker

golem on December 20, 2009, 9:02 pm

She ended up having a massive stroke, and was put on machines. It wasn't long before they knew

golem on December 20, 2009, 9:04 pm

That's very sad.

StarAngel on December 20, 2009, 9:06 pm

That she wasn 't going to make it. When I got the call, I dropped everything and drove to MN

golem on December 20, 2009, 9:06 pm

The whole drive, I kept thinking about how full of life she is. So positive, so pure.

golem on December 20, 2009, 9:08 pm

When I got there, I barely recognized her. Her face was so swollen and discolored. There was a

golem on December 20, 2009, 9:09 pm

Machine forcing air into her lungs, so she was being shaken. She had a tube in her mouth, she was

golem on December 20, 2009, 9:11 pm

Drooling bloody spittle. My sisters were there, keeping her cleaned up. They painted her nails.

golem on December 20, 2009, 9:12 pm

I was left alone with her, to say goodbye before they turned off the machines. I took her hand

golem on December 20, 2009, 9:14 pm

And sobbed. All of her potential. All stolen from her. Stolen from all of us. That's the worst.

golem on December 20, 2009, 9:18 pm

Its things like that that make me hate being a nurse. But to be able to be apart of ppls lives
