What are the apps home and vortex supposed to do?

I don't think anyone knows. There are a lot of apps that I'm like, why would any 1 want this?

Speed up and allow longer battery life. The longer you use them the more they work.

U start out w/a low % improvement and every so often it increases. My droid crazy fast, never dies
