Someone pls simplify the reason why we have daylights saving time? I hear it as to do with farming.

Farmers used to need more daylight during the summer for harvesting.

They don't in Virginia

magickfingers on January 19, 2010, 1:14 am

Doesn't save energy because. Peer company then sells to out of state

magickfingers on January 19, 2010, 1:16 am

The more you conserve the more power company earns selling power

Its because if we don't adjust time ever then the way the world rotates would eventually flip roles

novarift on January 21, 2010, 12:55 am

Aka midnight becomes noontime and noon becomes midnight, same reason we have leap years

novarift on January 21, 2010, 12:56 am

My father was a farmer and he said the same thing as MsCullen.

figueroa4 on January 21, 2010, 5:28 am

I seriously think that farmers can figure out that its light outside without changing the time

Neg. Moving the clock forward and then back doesn't adjust for anything.

It's for making more productive daylight hours.
